Kelly Cares Honors Dr. Sharon Stack and Harper Cancer Research Institute with the Playmaker of the Year Award at the Power of Pink Cocktail Party

The third annual Power of Pink Cocktail Party is part of Paqui's Playbook Series presented by United Federal Credit Union

South Bend, IN – October 21, 2019 – In recognition of their contributions to cancer research and care, Coach Brian and Paqui Kelly will honor Dr. Sharon Stack and Harper Cancer Research Institute as the 2019 Playmaker of the Year at the Power of Pink Cocktail Party on Wednesday, October 23, 2019. The cocktail party, the third event of Paqui's Playbook Series presented by United Federal Credit Union, is an evening dedicated to raising funds for cancer research and honoring Kelly Cares' Playmaker of the Year. Timed to coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness month, Paqui's Playbook is a series of events each October with an emphasis on breast cancer awareness and healthy living initiatives.

The Playmaker of the Year Award, presented by the Kelly Cares Foundation and its co-founders Brian and Paqui Kelly, honors an individual or group that serves as a catalyst for immediate, positive change in the Greater South Bend community. This Playmaker exemplifies leadership, resilience, and drive. While celebrated during breast cancer awareness month, this Playmaker can have an impact in a variety of fields in our community.

At the Power of Pink Cocktail Party, guests will enjoy a silent auction, hors d'oeuvres, cocktails and spectacular views of the Notre Dame Football field. The event will be held at the Downes Club of Notre Dame Football Stadium. Tricia Sloma of WNDU-TV will serve as the emcee.

“Brian and I are so thrilled to honor Dr. Sharon Stack and Harper Cancer Research Institute with the 2019 Playmaker of the Year Award,” says Paqui Kelly, co-founder of the Kelly Cares Foundation. “The research that she and the Harper Cancer Research Institute conducts is truly groundbreaking. Because of their work, we are closer to finding a cure for cancer.”

The Kelly Cares Foundation and Harper Cancer Research Institute are committed to finding a cure for cancer. The Kelly Cares Foundation currently funds three research projects at the Harper Cancer Research Institute: building a better mammogram, stopping cancer metastasis, and improving chemotherapy.
